Cuttack, May 24: BJD vice-president and Badamba- Narasinghpur MLA and Assembly nominee Debi Prasad Mishra faced the ire of locals during campaigning in his constituency yesterday.
A large number of people gheraoed Mishra alleging that he failed to provide drinking water to them despite being elected many times. He was detained by the agitating villagers for about an hour.
The BJD heavyweight faced the hostile situation at Kamaladihi under his constituency when he went there to address a public meeting. He was opposed by locals before the scheduled meeting.
"We have been suffering a lot due to acute shortage of water in our area. Even though we requested him many times, he didn't resolve the probem. Besides, all State government programmes have remained non-starter here," alleged the locals.

✨The protesting locals were seen carrying empty buckets and pitchers with them to the meeting venue.
Even though the MLA tried to convince the locals with fresh assurances, it went all in vain. After being detained for an hour, the MLA left the spot without addressing the meeting.
