Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: The last session of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) is all set to begin today amid aspirations of political parties gaining high ahead of general elections.
The House is likely to stormy as both the Opposition parties, BJP and Congress, are believed to counter the ruling BJD with the issues of government failures and 'reported' regulations in the execution of government schemes and 'deteriorating' law and order situation. The ruling party may raise issues that are awaiting Central approval.
This is the last session of the 16th OLA as Assembly elections along with the Parliament polls are likely to be held sometime before May. The session has a total of seven working days. Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha is likely to present a robust Budget of Rs 2.60 lakh crore in the House.
The House will begin with the speech of Governor Raghubar Das.

✨While the Finance Minister will present the Vote-On-Account on February 8, the Appropriation Bill will be tabled and passed the following day i.e. February 9. The Assembly is scheduled to run till February 13.
Though none of the political parties has held a legislature meeting, the BJP has said it would raise issues like 'Arpan Rath', Mandi problem, migration issue, irregularities in Pucca ghar distribution, and lack of irrigation facilities and Congress has announced to ask the government to clarify to the issues of regional imbalance, 'deteriorating' law and order situation and the spending of Rs 4,200 crore for Shrimandir Heritage Corridor project.
A three-tier security has been put in place for the smooth conduct of the Assembly. As many as 31 platoons of police force will be deployed. Striking Force, STU, Bomb Squad and fire services personnel will also be deployed.
