Koraput, Aug 16: Continuous heavy rainfall in Koraput district has triggered multiple landslides. Following this, traffic and transportation movement has been severely disrupted in the region.

According to reports, the worst-hit areas include the hilly stretches near Bijaghati and Kerenga, where massive soil erosion has led to road blockages.

The most severe impact was seen on the Damanjodi–Narayanpatna route.

Local authorities have rushed to the affected areas to assess the damage and initiate clearance operations.

Commuters and transport services have been advised to avoid these routes until further notice.

Residents in nearby villages have expressed concern over the increasing frequency of such incidents, urging the administration to implement long-term preventive measures such as slope stabilization and improved drainage systems.

Officials from the district disaster management team are monitoring the situation closely and have assured that emergency services are on standby to assist in case of further complications.
