Puri, Nov 4: On the auspicious occasion of Kartika Shukla Chaturdashi, the third day of Panchuka, devotees witnessed the sacred Lakshmi Nrusingha Besha of Lord Jagannath at the revered Shreemandir.
This spiritually significant adornment commemorates the divine vision granted to King Indradyumna, as mentioned in the Skanda Purana, where Lord Jagannath appeared in the fierce yet protective form of Nrusingha.
After the completion of the Abakash Niti rituals, the
Pushpalaka sevayats adorned the deities with exquisite attire and ornaments.
Lord Jagannath was embellished with golden limbs, feet, and chakra, while
holding a silver conch. Lord Balabhadra too was adorned with golden hands,
feet, and his signature plough and pestle. Adding to the grandeur, both deities
wore golden hairpins known as “Kia,” arranged in a style called “Adakia Besha.”
