Koraput, July 30: In a deeply disturbing incident in Odisha’s Koraput district, an MBK of Narayanpur block attempted suicide by posting a live video on social media from a locked room on Wednesday.

According to sources, The incident occurred in Pathardeul Sahi under Narayanpatna police station limits in the district.

In the live video, MBK Bhavani Pradhan, alleged six years of physical and mental harassment by her superiors, specifically naming the BLC (Block Level Coordinator) and BPM (Block Project Manager) as responsible for her suffering.

Bhavani claimed that despite repeated pleas for help, no action was taken, and she was driven to the brink. “If I survive, I won’t get justice… maybe only in death will I be heard,” she said in the video, which has since gone viral and sparked outrage across the region.

After getting information, Narayanpatna Police reached the spot and rescued Bhavani, who was found in critical condition. She was immediately rushed to the Narayanpatna Community Health Centre, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Narayanpatna Police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.

The incident has raised serious questions about workplace harassment and the mental health of frontline workers in government welfare schemes.
