Koraput Bus Accident: CM Majhi Expresses Grief, Announces Ex-Gratia For Next Of Kin Of Deceased

Jeypore, Dec 29: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi condoled the loss of lives in the tragic bus accident near Baipariguda in Koraput district, Sunday.
Expressing deep grief over the loss of lives, CM Majhi has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased, reads a post on 'X' (formerly twitter) by CMO, Odisha.
"In addition, the Chief Minister has directed for immediate treatment of the seriously injured in the district headquarters hospital," the post added.
The tragic accident, which claimed three lives and left more than 10 people critically injured, took place on Dakarighati near Baipariguda. The bus was reportedly coming from Cuttack's Niali and heading to Gupteswar.
As per reports, the driver lost control of the bus for some reasons and the bus overturned. Police arrived at the scene after getting the information.
They initiated the rescue operation with the help of ODRAF (Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force) team, local police officials, Koraput district police SP, CRPF team as well as a team from IRB. Koraput police used a heavy crane and a JCB in the rescue operation.
The injured were rushed to Baipariguda Hospital and the rescue operation was at its final stage when the last report came in.
