Holding placards and banners, the agitators staged demonstrations at different places in the town to press their demand.
Educational institutions, private offices, shops and business establishments remained closed in and around the town.
The protester staged a road blockade on NH 326 in Laxmipur as part of the bandh following which hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the highway.

✨Vehicular movement has been disrupted on Koraput-Rayagada route due to dawn-to-dusk bandh. The commuters faced difficulties to reach their destinations. However, emergency services continued to remain unaffected.
"Laxmipur fulfils all the eligibility criteria to get the sub-division status and we demand the same," said a member of Laxmipur Bikash Parishad.
“We have been demanding this for a long time but the administration has ignored our genuine appeal. We will intensify our demand in the coming days if our demand is not met at the earliest," he added.
