Key Points
Police Investigation Intensifies as family questions alleged suicide theory in the tragic death case of Arnab Mukharjee, a KIIT student.
Bhubaneswar, Apr 2: The untimely death of KITT University student Arnab Mukherjee has raised concerns, as investigations unfold surrounding the circumstances of his demise. Mukherjee was reported missing from his hostel before being found dead near a construction site in Mancheswar.
Speaking over the investigation, Biswaranjan Senapati, ACP, Zone-5, said that initial findings suggested a suicide, but Arnab’s family is convinced that he was murdered.
Police have found out some irregularities, such as the university failing to notify them when he disappeared. Furthermore, Senapati said, just 10 minutes before his death, Arnab contacted his mother to request Rs 200, adding another layer of mystery to the case.
Police have begun interrogating four to five individuals and are meticulously reviewing CCTV footage from various locations. “Arnab’s mobile phone has been recovered and is being analysed to determine his recent conversations and interactions,” informed Senapati.
The authorities are also considering questioning KITT University officials regarding their response to his disappearance.
Notably, two days earlier, a security guard witnessed Arnab’s fatal fall from a seven-story construction site in Mancheswar.
As the investigation continues, Arnab’s family remains firm in their stance, demanding justice for what they claim is not a simple suicide but a possible homicide.
The police are expected to provide updates in the coming days as they delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding his tragic death.
