Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: The police have recovered the suicide note of the Nepali student, who was found dead at her hostel room of the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, February 16.
As per the report, the suicide note, which has been written in Nepali language, mentioned that how the accused – Advik Srivastava – was harassing the Nepali student.
After recovering the note, the police have sent it to handwriting bureau for verification. In addition, police have also recovered the mobile phones and laptops of the deceased and the accused, which have been sent to Odisha Forensic Department.
Body Handed Over
The body of the deceased Nepali student has been handed over to her family late Tuesday night after the completion of post-mortem. The family has taken the body to Nepal.
Protests Erupted
The tragic incident has sparked widespread outrage among students, who are now demanding justice and transparency from the college administration.
The protesting students have demanded an independent student body that can protect their rights and interests. They also expressed their apprehensions about the safety of their fellow students.
Meanwhile, Nepali Ambassador to India, Shankar P Sharma, held a telephonic conversation with KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta in light of the incident.
The KIIT Founder had reportedly briefed the Nepali envoy about the actions taken by KIIT, which included issuing a public apology letter from the Vice Chancellor and the subsequent termination of a few staff members.
Before this, Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that his government has taken cognizance of the death of a student from Nepal at a private college in Bhubaneswar, which sparked protests and is pursuing the matter with India through diplomatic channels.
