Keonjhar, Mar 27: A police special squad vehicle, which was heading to Keonjhar, overturned near Charinalia on NH 53 in Keonjhar district.

Two police personnel and a notorious criminal, Anurag Shankhua, who were travelling in the vehicle, sustained serious injuries.

According to reports, Anurag Shankhua, a notorious criminal was apprehended from Ishala village under Nandipada police station area. After arresting Anurag, the police team was heading towards Keonjhar when the driver lost control over the wheels and overturned near Charinalia after skidding off the road.

Following the incident, two police personnel, Omprakash Mohapatra and Shiva Khilar, along with Anurag Shankhua, suffered serious injuries. They were immediately rescued and rushed to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack.

Reportedly, the health condition of the injured persons remains critical, said sources.

Meanwhile, authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, seeking to determine whether mechanical failure or human error played a role.
