Kendrapada, Sep 18: In a horrifying act of violence driven by jealousy and suspicion, a young man from Kendrapada district allegedly attempted to murder his girlfriend by attacking her repeatedly with an axe.

The incident occurred in the Bangalpur area under Kudangadi police limits and has left the local community in shock.

According to reports, the youth had been in a relationship with the victim, a young woman from the same locality. However, over time, he grew suspicious of her interactions with other men, leading to frequent arguments. On the evening of September 17, around 7 pm, the accused called the woman to meet him and, along with two accomplices, launched a brutal assault using an axe.

The victim sustained severe head injuries, with deep lacerations and profuse bleeding. She was initially rushed to Kendrapada District Headquarters Hospital and later transferred to SCB Medical College in Cuttack due to her critical condition.

Police have launched an investigation at the crime scene and are working to apprehend the accused and his associates.
