Kendrapara, Aug 10: Police on Sunday arrested Lipan Pramod Behera, male friend of the 21-year-old student, who was found charred to death inside her house under suspicious circumstances.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the Pattamundai rural area, where the body of the student was discovered under suspicious circumstances. Following preliminary investigation, Pattamundai Rural Police detained Lipan from Chennai.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact cause of death. The police are continuing their investigation and have assured that all angles will be thoroughly examined.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s father, their daughter, a Plus Three final-year student of political science, immolated herself following a blackmail threat from her boyfriend. The deceased’s father alleged that the girl was in a relationship with a youth for the past two years and ended her life after being blackmailed by her boyfriend with whom she had broken up a few months back.
