Kendrapara, June 16: A tragic incident has unfolded in Mahantigaon village under Koladia Panchayat, as a 40-year-old woman was dragged into the Kharasrota River by a crocodile. The victim, identified as Kajal Mohanty, had gone to the river for daily activities when the reptile pulled her underwater.
Local people immediately launched a search operation, but as of now, there has been no trace of the woman. Fire and rescue teams have also reached the site to assist in the search efforts.
This is not the first instance of human-wildlife conflict in Kendrapara. Crocodile attacks have been reported in previous years, leaving villagers in constant fear. With the latest incident adding to the concerns, residents have urged authorities to take adequate measures for their safety.
