At a recent showcase in Bhubaneswar, a five-year-old Kankrej bull drew attention for its striking features: lyre-shaped horns, a strong skeletal frame, and a well-balanced physique. Standing five feet tall and weighing nearly 700 kilograms, the bull exemplifies the robustness and functional efficiency that define the breed.

nutrition program. The bull’s daily diet includes green gram, oil cakes, broken
wheat, chickpea, rice bran, sesame bran, and concentrated feed. This protein-
and energy-rich regimen supports muscle strength, stamina, fertility, and
overall vitality. The monthly investment in feed and maintenance is estimated
at Rs 40,000, underscoring the premium care provided to this elite animal.
