Phulbani, Dec 15: Police unearthed the youth leader Sanjit Mallik murder case today. Sanjit, vice-president of Biju Yuba Janata Dal, was killed by a woman with whom he had an illicit relationship, said police. 

The accused woman has been arrested. 

According to the police, Sanjit and the accused married women had intimacies between them. They spent nights together many times at the official residence of the Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO). Sanjit had borrowed SHG money kept with the woman and didn't return the same. They had heated arguments over the borrowed money many times. Even Sanjit was threatening her to divulge their illicit relationship to others if she asked for the borrowed money.   

On the incident day, the two had also spent the night in the PEO residence. That night, Sanjit was in an inebriated condition.

Taking advantage of his condition, the woman smothered him to death with a pillow. Then, he covered his body with a blanket and fled from the spot taking Sanjit's mobile. The next day, Sanjit's family members found him dead there.
