Bhubaneswar, May 30: Former Kamakhyanagar MLA Prasanna Patnaik passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. The veteran leader, aged 74, had been battling health issues for a prolonged period.

Patnaik was admitted to the hospital yesterday after his condition deteriorated. He had been suffering from multi-organ failure, and despite medical intervention, he breathed his last this morning.

A prominent figure in Odisha’s political landscape, Patnaik was elected as an MLA at the young age of 28. His last electoral contest was in 2014, when he ran as a BJP candidate but faced defeat.

His demise has left a void in the state’s political sphere, with leaders and supporters mourning the loss of an experienced statesman.
