Patnaik was admitted to the hospital yesterday after his condition deteriorated. He had been suffering from multi-organ failure, and despite medical intervention, he breathed his last this morning.
A prominent figure in Odisha’s political landscape, Patnaik was elected as an MLA at the young age of 28. His last electoral contest was in 2014, when he ran as a BJP candidate but faced defeat.
