Interestingly, just days earlier, Ananga Uday Singh Deo, Kalikesha’s father and another influential leader from western Odisha, had also met Naveen Patnaik, further fuelling speculation about the family’s growing role in the party’s future roadmap.

The Singh Deo family has a long political legacy in Odisha. Kalikesha’s grandfather, Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo, served as Chief Minister from March 1967 to January 1971. His father, Ananga Uday Singh Deo, is known to share a personal bond with Naveen Patnaik, having been his schoolmate at Doon School.

While the BJD leadership has not made any official announcement, insiders indicate that former Chief Minister Patnaik is keen on reinforcing the party’s organisational structure by bringing in seasoned leaders with proven track records. Singh Deo’s possible elevation is being seen as part of this broader strategy.

As Odisha’s political landscape evolves, the developments at Naveen Nivas have captured attention across the state. While speculation continues, party insiders maintain that any decision will be aligned with the BJD’s long-term vision of stability, inclusivity, and regional balance.
