Bhubaneswar, June 6: In a significant move, the Odisha government has suspended Kalahandi Sub-Collector Chittaranjan Pilla following allegations of serious land irregularities during his tenure as Additional Tehsildar in Bhubaneswar from 2020 to 2022.

According to sources, Pilla was allegedly involved in unauthorized mutations of government land, improper classification changes of leased properties, and reopening cases he had previously rejected to process land mutations. These actions reportedly led to major discrepancies in land records, raising concerns about administrative integrity.

The matter escalated further with a case registered at the EOW (Economic Offences Wing), adding weight to the allegations. The Revenue Department's Additional Chief Secretary, acting upon recommendations, has ordered Pilla's suspension as part of disciplinary proceedings.

The suspension marks a crucial step in the investigation, as authorities examine the extent of the irregularities and their potential impact on land administration. Further developments in the case are expected as the inquiry progresses.
