Bhawanipatna, Aug 10: Unidentified miscreants allegedly broke into the rented house of businessman Jugal Agrawal on College Road under Kesinga police station limits in Odisha's Kalahandi district and fled with around Rs 4.5 lakh in cash, 300 grams of silver, 15 grams of gold and a laptop, a source said Monday.
According to the source, Agrawal had been away from home for five to six days after travelling to Baba Dham to offer water to Lord Shiva. He returned at around 1 am on Monday and found the lock of the rented house broken.
After entering the house, he found that cash, jewellery and other valuables were missing. He subsequently informed Kesinga police, following which a team reached the spot and launched an investigation.
The incident has raised concern among residents as Kasinga town has reportedly witnessed two major thefts in the past few days. Police are yet to make a breakthrough in those cases.

Three Held in Bhubaneswar Truck Theft Case
In a separate incident in Bhubaneswar, Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested three alleged members of an inter-state truck theft gang and recovered two trailers valued at more than Rs 1 crore.
According to police, the gang targeted trucks parked near toll gates and along national highways. A trailer valued at around Rs 70 lakh was reportedly stolen near the Gangapada toll gate.
Police said the accused planned to take the vehicle outside Odisha and sell it there.
They were intercepted while attempting to flee, the source informed.
Gas Cylinder Theft Case in Choudwar
In another case, Choudwar Police on Sunday arrested Santosh Barik, alias Tunga, an alleged professional gas-cylinder thief, and recovered 12 gas cylinders from his possession.
Police said Tunga allegedly operated with associates in the Choudwar and Jagatpur areas and sold stolen cylinders to different shopkeepers.
He was also allegedly involved in stealing a gas cylinder from a vehicle carrying cylinders near Gandhi Chhak a few days ago.
