Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has scripted history by winning the Nuapada by-election, a victory hailed as a turning point for the district’s long-awaited development. At a felicitation ceremony held at the party’s state office on Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi declared that newly elected MLA Jay Dholakia will be the “sarathi” (charioteer) of Nuapada’s progress.
CM’s Assurance
CM Majhi emphasized that Nuapada, neglected for over two decades, will now witness rapid growth. He announced projects worth Rs1,421 crore for the district and assured that under Dholakia’s leadership, Nuapada will emerge as one of Odisha’s leading districts. “As Chief Minister, I take personal responsibility for Nuapada’s development, and Jay Dholakia will be its driving force,” Majhi said.
Party Leadership and Support
State BJP President Manmohan Samal praised the people of Nuapada for their overwhelming support, noting that Dholakia’s victory was achieved with massive voter turnout of nearly 83 percent. He urged party workers to continue their dedication, ensuring that promises made by the BJP government are fulfilled. Samal highlighted that the by-election victory reflects the growing popularity of the BJP in Odisha and across the country.

Dholakia’s Gratitude
Expressing his gratitude, Jay Dholakia said the victory was not his alone but belonged to the people of Nuapada, the BJP’s double-engine government, and every party worker. He pledged to work tirelessly to resolve the district’s basic issues and to honor the trust placed in him. After the ceremony, Dholakia visited Puri’s Jagannath Temple with his family to seek blessings.

Yesterday, BJP candidate Jay Dholakia secured a resounding victory in the Nuapada assembly bypoll, defeating Congress rival Ghasiram Majhi by a margin of 83,748 votes. Opposition BJD, which had won the seat in 2024 but was relegated to third place this time. The outcome highlights BJP’s growing influence in the region and signals a shift in Nuapada’s political landscape.
