Jaundice Outbreak Triggers Panic In Jagatsinghpur’s Dandasahi Village

Jagatsinghpur, Aug 1: A sudden outbreak of jaundice in Dandasahi village under Biridi block of Jagatsinghpur district has triggered panic among residents. With over 40 people infected in just five days, health officials suspect the cause to be contaminated drinking water, particularly from tubewells.
According to reports, the matter came to fore after some locals fell ill after consuming water from three to four tubewells, which are now suspected to be contaminated.
Later, a medical team reached the village and is actively treating patients. Meanwhile, door-to-door awareness campaigns are being conducted by health workers, ASHA, and Anganwadi staff.
Preventive guidelines have also been issued, including:
- Boiling water before drinking
- Washing hands before meals
- Avoiding open defecation
The administration has also set up alternative drinking water sources in the village.
