Bhubaneswar, May 28: MP Aparajita Sarangi on Wednesday alleged that BJP's Khurda MLA candidate Prashant Jagdev was arrested without any complaint at the behest of the third floor, the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's office.
Addressing a Press conference here, the Bhubaneswar MP said, as a Lok Sabha seat contestant, she had gone to Begunia Assembly constituency to take stock of the polling process. Incumbent Chilika MLA and BJP candidate from Khurda Assembly constituency Prashant Jagdev accompanied her. They were moving in a car when the police intercepted her and picked up Jagdev at Khorda.
She said the interception of her car and detention of Jagdev was 'illegal' as no complaint was filed against Jagdev.
When I enquired about police action against Jagdev, a senior officer of the district Collectorate said action was taken against Jagdev on the direction from the third floor. She said she opted not to name the officer as he is a government service holder.

✨She said the CCTV footage of the booth, where EVM was allegedly damaged, should have been made public to prove that Jagdev was involved in the incident.
"My car was intercepted illegally and Jagdev was detained illegally as nobody had filed any complaint against him. The Chief Minister, in charge of the Home Department, is responsible for this illegal act and disrespect meted out to me," alleged Sarangi.
Notably, the police arrested Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev on the charges of toppling an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in Begunia during the third phase of polling held in Odisha on May 25.
