Bhadrak, Jun 13: The internet shutdown in Bhadrak has been extended by another 12 hours today, informed SP Manoj Kumar Rout.
As per the announcement, internet services will remain suspended from 6 AM to 6 PM. This follows yesterday’s 24-hour suspension due to rising communal tensions.
The unrest was triggered by disputes over cattle transportation, leading to violent clashes between two groups. The situation escalated when a cow protector was killed in an attack, creating heightened tensions in the region.
However, authorities have reported that the situation has since stabilised, aided by the deployment of extensive security forces.
To prevent inflammatory social media posts, the administration had imposed a 24-hour internet shutdown across five locations in Bhadrak district.
Officials stated that the restriction was necessary to curb misinformation and maintain law and order.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and further decisions on internet services will be made based on security assessments.
