Bhubaneswar, June 12: In the wake of group tension prevailing after the death of a cow protection activist, internet services have been suspended for 24 hours in five regions of Bhadrak district, Odisha.
The suspension of internet services will be effective from 6 AM today until 6 AM tomorrow to curb the spread of inflammatory content and maintain law and order. The affected areas include Bhadrak Block and Municipality, Tihidi Block, Dhamnagar Block, and Dhamnagar NAC.
The incident that led to tension reportedly began on May 30 in Kasoti village under Tihidi police limits, where a violent clash broke out between two groups over illegal cattle transport. Santosh Parida, a resident of Kasoti village, was seriously injured in the altercation and succumbed to his injuries yesterday at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

✨In response to the growing unrest in Tihidi and Dhamnagar regions, security has been heightened with 27 platoons of police deployed across sensitive areas. Authorities are on high alert as Santosh’s body is expected to return to his village today.
Odisha Chief Minister has announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹10 lakh to the deceased’s family and assured a government job for one of the family members. The state administration has also pledged strict legal action against those involved in the violence.
