Infrastructure In Odisha Will Be At Par With America Standards: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

Bhubaneswar, Apr 17: In a monumental move towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Purvoday vision, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has unveiled infrastructure projects worth Rs 4,019 crore for Odisha and said infrastructure projects worth Rs 3 lakh crore will be completed in the State in coming days.


At the foundation-laying and inauguration ceremony in Baramunda, Bhubaneswar, Gadkari emphasized the critical importance of robust infrastructure as a foundation for Odisha's development.


Highlighting some major projects, Gadkari announced the development of the Ranchi-Sambalpur second corridor at an estimated ₹8000 crore and the Chandikhole-Paradip corridor to be completed by December 2026, reducing travel time to merely one hour. Similarly, with the completion of the Cuttack-Sambalpur expressway by June 2025, travel time will drop by four hours.


Furthermore, plans include bypass roads, multi-lane corridors, and expressways linking key destinations across Odisha, transforming its connectivity to rival that of developed countries like the USA. The state has already seen ₹2 lakh crore worth of projects underway, with comprehensive development set to continue.

"Infrastructure development is important in all sectors. The Prime Minister has decided to develop roads in the country. What did not happen in 60 years in the country has happened in 11 years. In Odisha, work worth Rs 2 lakh crore has been done. Work worth Rs 60,000 is going on. Work of 75,000 in the offing. A DPR of Rs 40,000 crore has been prepared. In the coming days, work worth Rs 3 lakh crore will be done. Odisha will become America," said Gadkari.


Gadkari shared his joy at revisiting Odisha, the land of Lord Jagannath, and underscored the BJP-led government's commitment to advancing development and progress across the state.


The Union Minister further stated that the Minister has taken the initiative to build a big expressway. The travel time between Nabarangpur and Vishakhapatnam will be reduced to four and a half hours. A project of Rs 7,000 crore has been approved for the capital 6-lane ring road. Work will start after Cabinet approval.


He announced that 13 projects worth Rs 9,000 crore were approved as demanded by the Chief Minister. Tenders will be floated soon. DPR has been done for two bridges of Satpara Krushnaprasad 8 km at a cost of Rs 500 crore.
