Balangir, Apr 3: Police have arrested a man on charges of murder of his wife at Antarla village under Bandhapada police outpost in Balangir district.

The accused, Gautam Biswal (41), in an inebriated state reached the house late on Tuesday night and asked Amulyaa to serve food. Following this, an argument ensued between the husband-wife duo over the consume of alcohol. In a fit of rage, Gautam left the house.

Later, Gautam returned home and attacked Amulyaa with an axe killing her on the spot.

The incident was alerted to the police, who then rushed to the spot and launched a probe into the incident.

A case was registered under relevant Sections of IPC and the accused person has been forwarded to court, said Deogaon police.

Worth mentioning, Gautam had married Amulyaa of Arda village under Tarabha police station in Subarnapur district around 14 years ago. The couple had two children.
