Bhubaneswar, Jul 1: Indian Railways extended two weekly special train services that pass through Odisha, in response to sustained passenger demand and to ensure continued travel convenience, officials said on Wednesday.

According to the officials, the Shalimar–Charlapalli–Shalimar and Patna Junction–Khurda Road–Patna Junction trains will now operate for an additional period in July.

Train No. 08045 Shalimar–Charlapalli Weekly Special will run every Friday from July 3 to July 31, 2026. Its return service, Train No. 08046 Charlapalli–Shalimar Weekly Special, will operate every Saturday from July 4 to August 1, 2026. The train will include two Luggage-cum-Divyang Friendly Coaches, four General Second Class Coaches, twelve Sleeper Class Coaches, two AC 3-Tier Coaches, and two AC 2-Tier Coaches, ensuring adequate facilities for passengers.

Similarly, Train No. 03230 Patna Junction–Khurda Road Weekly Special will continue to run every Thursday between July 2 and July 30, 2026. Its counterpart, Train No. 03229 Khurda Road–Patna Junction Weekly Special, will operate every Friday from July 3 to July 31, 2026. This train will comprise one Luggage-cum-Generator-cum-Brake Van, one Luggage-cum-Divyang Friendly Coach, two General Second Class Coaches, four Sleeper Class Coaches, seven AC 3-Tier Coaches, and seven AC 3-Tier Economy Coaches.

Officials said the extension was aimed at meeting the travel requirements of passengers during the busy season. Passengers have been advised to take note of the revised schedules and plan their journeys accordingly.
