Bhubaneswar, Aug 12: As India prepares to celebrate its 79th Independence Day on August 15, the Odisha Government has announced a district-wise assignment of ministers, including MoS (Minister of State — Independent Charge) to hoist the national flag across the state.
This decentralized approach aims to foster patriotic fervour and ensure inclusive celebrations in every corner of Odisha.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lead the state-level ceremony in Bhubaneswar, where he will hoist the tricolour and address the gathering. The event will feature a ceremonial parade, cultural performances, and tributes to freedom fighters.
Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida will represent the government in Keonjhar and Cuttack, respectively.

✨With Independence Day 2025 just around the corner, the Odisha Government has finalized elaborate arrangements for the state-level celebrations through a high-level preparatory meeting chaired by Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Information and Public Relations Department.
Emphasizing the significance of Independence Day as a symbol of national pride and unity, Sharma called for meticulous planning and flawless execution of every aspect of the event. The meeting saw participation from senior officials including Director Anuj Kumar Das Pattnaik, Additional Secretary Bishnupriya Sahu, Deputy Director Sucheta Priyadarshini, and Financial Advisor Prithviraj Pani.
Key Highlights of the Preparations
Practice Parade:Scheduled from August 11 to 13 on Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Bhubaneswar, the rehearsals will ensure smooth execution of the ceremonial parade.
Main Event on August 15: The state-level celebration will feature the national flag hoisting by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, a grand parade, and the soulful rendition of Ramdhun accompanied by traditional instruments.
Live Broadcasts & Decor: Arrangements for live telecasts on TV and social media platforms have been made. The venue and the route from Raj Bhavan will be adorned with vibrant decorations.
Recognition & Publications: The Chief Minister will felicitate outstanding performers from the Republic Day 2025 parade and tableau. Special editions of Utkal Prasanga and Odisha Review will be released to mark the occasion.
