Bhubaneswar, May 11: Several regions across Odisha witnessed a sharp rise in temperatures, with Jharsuguda recording the highest at 35.2°C by 8:30 AM, according to the latest bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Other districts also saw high early-morning temperatures, including Sambalpur at 34.4°C and Hirakud at 34°C, signaling an intense heatwave ahead. The IMD has warned that temperatures could rise significantly by afternoon, with some areas likely to breach the 40°C mark.
Additionally, western Odisha is expected to experience heatwave-like conditions, prompting authorities to urge residents to take necessary precautions.
Furthermore, the weather department has urged citizens to avoid direct exposure to sunlight, stay hydrated, and limit outdoor activities during peak hours.
