Bhubaneswar, Aug 24: At least four districts across Odisha are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The alert has been sounded for districts including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda.
According to the IMD's latest bulletin, the IMD has issued a fresh alert for widespread rainfall across Odisha, triggered by a low-pressure area formed over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining regions.
The system is expected to bring intense showers throughout the day in several districts of the state, said the weather agency.
The IMD has cautioned residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
In addition to inland weather disturbances, the sea condition remains rough, prompting authorities to issue a warning to fisherfolk. They have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea due to turbulent waves and strong surface winds.
