Mayurbhanj, May 6: In a major operation against illegal sand mining, a joint team comprising the Mining Department, Police, and Revenue officials conducted a surprise raid at Adipur Balighat on the banks of the Baitarani River.
The crackdown comes amid reports of sand mafias illegally extracting sand from the Keonjhar district and transporting it into Mayurbhanj using boats.
During the raid, officials seized two boats used for the unauthorised extraction and transportation of sand. However, the sand mafias managed to flee the scene, evading arrest.
Authorities have confirmed that no individuals have been apprehended yet, but investigations are ongoing to identify and take action against those involved.
