Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: West Bengal traders have taken a stand against the state government's decision to stop the potato supply to Odisha with a motive of "If not in Odisha, then not in Bengal as well."

The traders as well as the cold storage owners have held a complete protest against the Mamata Banerjee-led govt. The TMC-led govt have stopped the supply of potatoes to Odisha using various tactics. 

However, it didn't go well with the traders and cold storage owners, who are suffering due to the West Bengal govornment's actions. In response, the traders have decided to stop selling potatoes in protest.

Speaking on this regard, a potato trader has said that they will not sell even a single potato until the govt fulfill their demands. "We want all our demands to be fulfilled, or else we won't resume the supply in the state," said the trader while speaking exclusively to Argus News.

"We want the govt to allow the resumption of potato supply to Odisha. We also want to sell the potatoes Rs 23 per kg," he stated, adding, "A meeting with the govt has been scheduled in this regard."

The protest might impact Odisha as potato crisis may resurface again. Odisha traders were bringing the potatoes taking detours from West Bengal. However, the WB govt has blocked those routes stationing police in various check posts. 

Traders in Odisha are now fearing that this may affect the potato price in the state as well.
