Bhubaneswar, June 29: In the wake of a tragic stampede at Puri’s Shradhabali that claimed the lives of three devotees, the Odisha government has appointed IAS officer Arvind Agarwal, currently serving as the Higher Education Secretary, to oversee the coordination of the ongoing Rath Yatra.
This new responsibility comes as part of a broader administrative reshuffle initiated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

✨Additionally, swift changes were ordered in the district leadership. Pinak Mishra has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) for Puri, while Chanchal Rana will assume charge as the District Collector.
The Chief Minister has also ordered a comprehensive administrative inquiry led by the Development Commissioner, ensuring that accountability is fixed and crowd management is reinforced for the grand festival.
