Balasore, May 27: A shocking incident from Daripal village under Udala police limits has come to light, where a five-month pregnant woman was abandoned by her husband on the roadside.

The victim, identified as Kalavati Das, was reportedly travelling with her husband, Subrata Das, from Tentuolia in Balasore to her parental home in Kutling village, Udala.

However, midway near Daripal village, Subrata unexpectedly left his wife stranded on a deserted road and fled.

Hours passed as Kalavati lay helpless, her condition worsening. Fortunately, woman, identified as Sumitra Nayak of the same locality, stepped in as a savior.

Seeing Kalavati's deteriorating health, Sumitra took her to home, alerted the ambulance service, and, along with the driver, rushed her to Udala Medical Center.

While health condition of Kalavati remains in critical condition, villagers have tracked down Subrata and brought him to Udala Medical for further proceedings.
