Balasore, Feb 12: In a shocking incident, a woman committed suicide by hanging as her husband continued drinking liquor despite her repeated requests. The incident has occurred in the Kaptipada area.

Sanjulata Nayak and her husband Anandi Nayak had been staying at Uttareswar in the Kaptipada area. Sanjulata had been opposing Anandi's drinking habit, while the latter often tortured her in inebriated condition. Sanjulata made the last attempt to convince her husband not to drink liquor. She warned Anandi that she would end her life if he drank liquor further. But Anadi woke up early this morning and went to drink.

Frustrated at Anadi's attitude, Sanjukta drank poison and then hanged herself. On his return home, Anandi saw the body of her wife hanging from the ceiling. He along with some neighbors rushed her to the Soro hospital where doctors declared her dead.

On being informed, Soro police went to the hospital and seized the body. After registering an unnatural death case, police sent the body for postmortem and started further investigation.
