Puri, Jan 24: A hotel worker was allegedly killed near SCS College Square under Town police station limits here in Odisha, police said on Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Guna from Jaleswar in Balasore district. He was found dead with injuries to the abdomen and other parts of the body, sources said.

A team of Police officials, including the Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh, reached the spot soon after receiving information and began an investigation into the incident.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that Guna was employed at Gayatri Hotel near College Square, where another staff member, Tuku, also worked. According to the hotel owner, longstanding hostility between the two employees may have led to the fatal attack.

Meanwhile, the body has been sent to the District Headquarters Hospital in the city for autopsy. While the motive and circumstances remain under investigation, police have started questioning witnesses and examining evidence.

 The incident has raised concerns about workplace disputes escalating into violence in the city.
