Titilagarh, Apr 4: In a shocking incident, an oxygen cylinder exploded inside an ambulance at a Maternity and Child Care Hospital in Titilagarh, Balangir district in Odisha, injuring a woman severely and creating panic among locals.
The accident occurred when a pregnant woman, accompanied by her newborn twins, was being transferred to Balangir for specialised care.
Reports indicate that as hospital staff connected the oxygen cylinder inside the ambulance, it suddenly exploded. The blast engulfed one of the passengers, identified as the mother of the newborns, in flames, leaving her with severe burns. Some locals attempting to douse the fire also sustained injuries.
Eyewitnesses claim that negligence on the part of ambulance workers led to the mishap. Authorities are now investigating the incident, and discussions surrounding the safety protocols for transporting critical patients have intensified.
