Ganjam, Mar 30: A history-sheeter, identified as, Laxminarayan Paikray alias Kuna Paikray, was shot dead allegedly by some unknown miscreants near Patharapalli Village under Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district.

According to reports, the incident took place when Kuna was returning to his village at Athagada Patna. On the way, some unknown assailants opened fire on Kuna near a poultry farm in Patharapalli.  Soon after the incident, the miscreants fled the spot while Kuna died on the spot.

On being informed, police along with the scientific team reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The body was seized and sent to a nearby hospital in Kabisuryanagar for post-mortem.

A case has been registered, and a team hase been formed to track down the assailants.
