Argus News - Historic Cuttack Baliyatra 2025 To Be Held On Upper Ground Area As Well, Confirms Cuttack Collector

Cuttack, Nov 1: The iconic Baliyatra 2025 will be organised across both the Lower and Upper Baliyatra Ground areas in Cuttack, confirmed District Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde.

So far, as many as 20 stalls have already been allotted, primarily for traditional food and handicraft items.

The collector stated that other interested vendors can also apply for stalls, which will be provided at concessional rates. This decision comes after initial hesitation from the traders’ association, which had earlier requested that no business activities be conducted on the upper Baliyatra ground area.

Due to this request, there had been uncertainty over whether stalls would be allowed in that section. However, with some traders now agreeing to set up stalls there, preparations have begun in full swing for stall allocation and setup.

The move is expected to enhance the scale and reach of the Historic Cuttack Baliyatra 2025.

Baliyatra, is one of Odisha’s most iconic and historic festivals, celebrated annually in Cuttack to commemorate the state’s rich maritime legacy.

The festival begins on Kartika Purnima and spans several days, drawing traders and visitors nationwide. It features a vibrant mix of traditional food stalls, handicrafts, cultural performances, and exhibitions.

Baliyatra not only revives the spirit of Odisha’s glorious past but also serves as a major economic and cultural event, blending heritage with modern-day celebration.
