14: The Historic
Baliyatra Cuttack 2025, Asia’s largest open-air trade fair, concluded after
nine days of vibrant festivities, cultural showcases, and massive public
participation. Held on the banks of the Mahanadi River, this year’s edition
drew an estimated crowd of over 70 lakh visitors, setting new benchmarks in
attendance and business.
According to
official estimates, Historic Baliyatra Cuttack 2025 witnessed trade worth
approximately ₹4,000 crore, with the National Pallishree Mela alone
contributing over ₹500 crore. More than 2,500 registered stalls and over 1,000
informal vendors participated, offering a diverse range of products from across
India.
The
fairgrounds, spread across 60 acres in the lower ground, saw daily footfalls of
5–6 lakh, peaking at 15 lakhs on the weekend. On Sunday, the overwhelming crowd
led authorities to halt vehicular movement within an 8-kilometer radius to
ensure safety and crowd control.
A major
highlight of Historic Baliyatra Cuttack 2025 was the Bollywood Night featuring
performances by renowned playback singers Shreya Ghoshal and Harshdeep Kaur.
Ghoshal’s concert alone attracted nearly 12 lakh spectators, while the combined
turnout for both shows crossed 30 lakhs.

attractions included the “Cuttack in Cuttack” laser light show, the Boita
Bandana competition, and the “Odia Asmita” literary pavilion. Daily cultural
programs and food stalls, especially the popular Dahibara Aloodum counters, added
to the festive atmosphere.
The Cuttack
district administration had been preparing for Historic Baliyatra Cuttack 2025
for over six months, ensuring streamlined plot allocation and enhanced crowd
management.
The closing ceremony of Historic Baliyatra Cuttack 2025 was graced by Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan and Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, who felicitated several distinguished individuals for their contributions.
