Puri, Jun 5: With the holy Rath Yatra approaching, Odisha Police has intensified security preparations to ensure the safety of devotees and smooth conduct of the event.

A high-level security review meeting was chaired by IG (Central Range) S. Praveen Kumar, focusing on crowd management, traffic control, and law enforcement.

During the meeting, it was decided that 70 platoons of police force, along with four SP-rank officers and 450 additional personnel, will be deployed in Puri for Snana Purnima on June 11.

The primary focus will be on structured darshan, devotee safety, and traffic regulation to prevent congestion.

Senior police officials, including the SP of Puri and various station officers, attended the meeting, discussing strategies to maintain order during the festival. The second Rath Yatra coordination meeting, chaired by the Law Minister, is scheduled for June 9, where further security measures will be finalized.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of coastal security, CCTV surveillance, and special traffic arrangements to manage the massive influx of devotees. Additionally, temporary police outposts will be set up at key locations to ensure swift response to emergencies.

With lakhs of devotees expected to visit Puri, Odisha Police is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a safe and disciplined celebration of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra.
