Puri, Aug 6: A high-level meeting was held at the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) office to discuss reforms in the functioning of Ananda Bazaar — the sacred marketplace where devotees receive Mahaprasad.
The meeting was chaired by SJTA Deputy Chief Administrator and Puri Collector, with active participation from the Suar Mahasuar Nijog, including its president, secretary, and other members.
One of the major proposals put forth was to conduct Mangala Arati at 6:30 AM, regardless of the timing of the previous night’s Pahuda Niti (ritual of putting the deities to rest). This aims to streamline the temple’s daily schedule and ensure timely availability of Mahaprasad.
Ananda Bazaar Chain Linked to Niti Kanti: The timing of Mahaprasad distribution will be aligned with the completion of the deities’ morning rituals (Niti Kanti).
Faster Mahaprasad Release: Once rituals conclude, Mahaprasad will be released promptly to reduce crowding and improve devotee experience.
Plans were also discussed to ensure devotees receive Mahaprasad in an orderly manner, enhancing spiritual ambiance and safety.
These reforms are part of a broader initiative to modernize temple management while preserving centuries-old traditions.
