Bhubaneswar, Jul 28: Security has been intensified across the border areas of the state following the commemoration of Saheed Saptaha, or the martyrs' week, which is annually observed between July 27 and August 3.
The week-long tribute includes the construction of martyr pillars in villages and cultural performances near these sites, aimed at garnering local support.

On the other hand, intelligence agencies have been instructed to closely monitor Maoist movements, especially in areas known for past violence.
Authorities fear that Maoists may use the occasion to target police personnel and informers, as seen in previous years.
Maoist propaganda during Shaheed Saptah often includes songs and dances in tribal languages like Koya and Gondi, promoting their narrative around the protection of jal, jangal, zameen (water, land, forest). These efforts are seen as attempts to win over tribal communities and reinforce ideological support.
