Balasore/Mayurbhanj, June 30: Amid persistent heavy rainfall, rivers Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga, and Jalaka have swollen dangerously, raising alarm across northern Odisha. The Subarnarekha River breached the danger mark at Rajghat, flowing at 11.32 meters by 6 AM today, prompting fears of a major flood situation.
Authorities have warned that 19 panchayats across three blocks may be affected as floodwaters advance. In Basta block, more than 20 villages have already reported water ingress from the Jalaka River, causing severe disruptions.
Baripada city is reeling under waterlogging, with many households inundated by drain overflow. Rising levels in Jarali, Sarali, Sukajoda, and the Budhabalanga River are compounding the flood threat in low-lying areas like Sunagadia, Lalbazar, Mining Colony, and Deulasahi.

✨The Mayurbhanj district administration has issued emergency helpline numbers and announced the closure of all government and private schools for today. In addition, all Anganwadi centers across the district will remain closed for the next three days.
