Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: Several districts of Odisha are likely to witness heavy rainfall activity in the next few hours, informed the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather agency has also issued a yellow alert for as many as 20 districts of the state.
According to the latest update by the weather agency, a cyclonic circulation over southern Bangladesh and adjoining areas is moving northward and simultaneously, moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea are flowing into Odisha. Under the influence of this, several districts will witness heavy rainfall activity in the next 24 hours.
The districts with yellow alert include Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh.
Following this, the IMD department advised citizens to avoid outdoor activities during thunderstorms while farmers are advised to take precautions to protect standing crops.
