Bhubaneswar, Apr 18: Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm and gusty winds is likely to lash three districts of the state in the next 24 hours, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Moreover, several districts across the state may witness rainfall acitivity for three days till April 20, said the IMD.

The weather agency has also issued an orange alert for the districts of Khordha, Cuttack, and Dhenkanal.

The meteorological centre has predicted isolated thunderstorm warnings for the districts including Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and other few districts. A yellow alert (warning isolated thunderstorm) has been issued for Korapur and Malkangiri for April 19.

Heavy rains, accompanied by winds, lashed several parts of the state Friday morning. While the rain brought much-needed relief from the scorching heat but caught office-goers off guard in many places.

Heavy rainfall in certain regions could lead to waterlogging and disruption of daily activities following this people have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors during severe weather.
