Bhubaneswar, May 27: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, leading to widespread rainfall across Odisha for the next five days. Heavy showers accompanied by strong winds are expected in most parts of the state.
In response, the IMD has issued a Yellow Warning for 14 districts, cautioning residents about potentially intense rainfall and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph. The districts include Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
According to IMD reports, heavy rainfall activity will continue for the next five days, with an alert for extremely heavy precipitation in the next 24 hours. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds have prompted authorities to urge caution, particularly in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.

✨Despite concerns circulating on social media, IMD has clarified that there is no cyclone formation at present. The department reassured that pre-monsoon rainfall continues as expected, and there is no forecast for a severe storm.
