Bhubaneswar, July 1: A low-pressure area currently hovering over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal regions of West Bengal and Bangladesh has now moved inland, settling over Gangetic West Bengal and nearby areas.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is expected to drift west-northwestward over the next two days, impacting northern Odisha, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal.
Under the influence of this, widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely across northern and interior Odisha till July 4, with thunderstorms and lightning expected in several districts.
The weather department has issued orange warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh between July 2 and 5.
Beside, a yellow warning have been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati, among others.
Another Low Pressure Likely
Meteorologists anticipate the formation of another low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal between July 4 and 6, which could prolong rainfall activity in northern Odisha till July 9.
