Bhubaneswar, July 21: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for several districts in Odisha, predicting intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
A warning has been issued to ten districts including, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar and are expected to witness heavy downpours today. Wind speeds in these regions could range between 30 to 40 km/h, raising concerns for residents and travelers.
In addition to this, yellow warnings have been issued for eleven other districts, including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, and Balangir due to the likelihood of lightning strikes.
From July 23 onward, weather conditions across the state may worsen, with forecasts indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall in several areas.
Authorities have urged residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during the coming days of turbulent weather.
