Heatwave Alert: IMD Issues Red Warning For 13 Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar, May 12: The India Meteorological Department's (IMD) regional centre has issued a red alert for as many as 13 districts of Odisha as scorching heatwave conditions have gripped several states.
According to reports, the alert was issued for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
Besides, the weather agency has also issued yellow alert for at least nine districts for heatwave condition and 10 districts for humid conditions on Tuesday.
The Met department has predicted that the day time temperature across Odisha will increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius for the next three days and the condition will prevail till May 15.
Following the rise in temperature, the IMD has advised people to avoid outdoor exposure during peak hours. It also advised citizens to wear light and loose cotton clothes and stay hydrated with sufficient intake of water and traditional drinks such as rice water, lemon water and buttermilk.
